Summary
Yazdan Sikandar had never been a man who bowed before anyone not even his father. He lived on his own terms, carried his wounds in silence, and kept his world tight and inaccessible. Marriage was the last thing he ever wanted. In his eyes, marriage was not companionship .it was responsibility, compromise, and a surrender of personal freedom. And Yazdan refused surrender in every form.
But sometimes life does not ask for permission. Sometimes it simply declares.
His father had arranged his marriage long before Yazdan could protest. The bride was Tamkinat a young, orphaned girl who had lived her entire life under the roof of his father’s widowed sister. She had been raised out of duty, not affection, and now at the age of twenty-two she had become a source of income for that very household. The marriage was not made out of love, compassion, or destiny. It was made out of convenience and money.
On the night of the nikah, Yazdan refused to accept what had been forced upon him. While guests celebrated and relatives whispered blessings, he sat cold and unmoved. Later, when the world finally slept, he looked at Tamkinat with an unreadable gaze and told her the truth he had never wanted this marriage. He had not agreed willingly. And worse, he already had two children. Their existence was not a rumor, not a scandal, but a fact Tamkinat was expected to digest without protest.
The girl did not break—not in front of him, nor behind him. Life had been cruel to her before; she had learned to bleed quietly. Her silence was not weakness. It was survival.
What followed were days of tension—two strangers bound by Nikah yet divided by resentment and fear. Yazdan kept his emotional distance; Tamkinat kept her dignity. The house watched them carefully. His father believed time would soften him. His aunt believed obedience would soften her fate. And Yazdan’s children, in their innocence, became the only bridge that existed between these two unwilling souls.
Slowly, reality began to shift. Yazdan could not ignore the way Tamkinat tended to his home without bitterness, respected his boundaries without humiliation, and soothed his children without expecting gratitude. He found no rebellion in her presence—only a quiet strength he could neither break nor deny.
But love does not come easily to wounded people. Yazdan carried scars, fears, and betrayals. Tamkinat carried abandonment, silence, and the ache of never being chosen. Their journey became a slow war between past and present, between duty and desire, between resignation and hope.
In the end, the question was no longer whether they would remain married. The real question became whether they would ever become partners—by choice, not compulsion.
For a girl raised without love and a man living without trust, happiness was never a guarantee. But perhaps—just perhaps—it could become a possibility.
Author's Note
This story is about two strangers forced into a bond neither asked for. Yazdan refuses the marriage; Tamkinat quietly endures it. Their wounds, pride, and dignity collide long before love ever appears. Not every beginning is beautiful but some endings are worth waiting for. Thank you for reading.
